Visko Unveils Real-Time Video Model Orbis and Secures $10M Pre-Seed
Visko has launched Orbis, a foundation model that streams interactive, physics-grounded video in real time with persistent memory. The company also closed a $10 million pre-seed round led by Llama Ventures. Orbis can generate 4K video at 24 fps and sustain hour-scale generation without drift.
Visko was established in 2025 by Qing (Will) Yin, who holds a Stanford Ph.D. in computational mathematics and mechanics and previously spent three years as a researcher at Apple. The company operates from Sunnyvale, California, with a 16-person team recruited from major technology firms including Apple, Google DeepMind, Meta, Amazon, and Tesla, and maintains a working relationship with Google.
The company's technical report indicates Orbis outperforms competing real-time and long-video systems on DOVER aesthetic and technical quality metrics, as well as VideoAlign visual and motion quality assessments. Visko also reported the highest overall-preference and temporal-stability ratings in a long-form human preference study comparing eight systems. The report acknowledges areas where Orbis trails competitors, with methodology and results published for transparency.
Orbis could significantly alter how industries approach simulation and training, particularly in robotics where generating realistic, steerable video footage may reduce reliance on expensive or hazardous physical staging. The model's persistent memory and real-time interactivity could enable new forms of interactive entertainment and virtual environments, though hour-scale generation raises questions about computational costs and accessibility. As real-time AI video becomes more capable, it may also complicate media verification, potentially affecting how audiences and professionals assess the authenticity of visual content.
