BFI London Film Festival Expands 2026 Program with World Premieres
The BFI London Film Festival has added a host of new titles to its 70th edition, including world premieres of Brad Bird's 'Ray Gunn' and Travis Knight's 'Wildwood.' Female filmmakers account for 43 percent of the program, with 109 works. The festival also announced 33 world premieres, including nine features, alongside 16 international and 20 European premieres. All features and series will receive their first U.K. screenings.
Notable world premieres include Brad Bird’s animated caper *Ray Gunn* (hitting Netflix in December), Travis Knight’s Laika animation *Wildwood*, and Michael Winterbottom’s series *The Trip to the Northern Lights* with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan. International premieres feature Boots Riley’s *I Love Boosters* and Tony Gilroy’s *Behemoth!*. The festival runs October 7–18 at venues including the Southbank Centre.
This expanded lineup could reinforce London’s position as a global launchpad for prestige and genre cinema, drawing international industry attention and boosting local cultural tourism.
