Bardem, Cotillard, and Redgrave Add Voices to Animated Fantasy 'The Turning Door'

Javier Bardem, Marion Cotillard, and Vanessa Redgrave have joined the voice cast of the animated film 'The Turning Door.' The story centers on a young girl who falls into a magical realm called The Turning and must save her parents. The film also features original music performed by the cast, with production currently underway.
The film follows young Ariadlyn, played by newcomer Pippa Kelly, who discovers a mysterious box that becomes a doorway into a magical realm called The Turning, where she must navigate old magic, strange creatures, and alchemy to rescue her parents. Cast members will perform original songs written by director Nicholas Ashe Bateman and Claire Givens, with Swedish composer Anna von Hausswolff also joining the voice cast.
Production is underway with producers from After Hours, Maere Studios, and Esme Grace Pictures. Mister Smith Entertainment handles international sales and co-represents domestic rights, having introduced the project at AFM last year and continuing distributor pitches at the Toronto International Film Festival market this month.
The film's blend of A-list voice talent and original musical performances could draw family audiences seeking alternatives to major studio animation. Its indie production model and festival market presence may signal continued viability for mid-budget animated features outside traditional studio pipelines. The casting of established dramatic actors in family entertainment could also broaden the film's appeal across age groups, potentially influencing how similar projects approach voice casting and musical integration.
