Comic Book Creator Rob Liefeld Joins Range Media Partners
Rob Liefeld, known for creating Deadpool and Cable, has signed with Range Media Partners after leaving Verve earlier this year. He aims to develop his characters across publishing, film, TV, and gaming. Range will help him find new audiences for his properties.
Liefeld's career trajectory spans more than three decades, beginning with his influential runs on Marvel's *The New Mutants* and *X-Force* in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His co-founding of Image Comics in 1992 alongside other prominent artists marked a significant shift in creator-owned publishing. The commercial success of the Deadpool film franchise, culminating in the 2024 blockbuster *Deadpool & Wolverine* which grossed $1.3 billion, substantially elevated his Hollywood profile.
Beyond Deadpool, Liefeld has actively pursued adaptations of his other creations. His *Avengelyne* property has attracted notable industry talent, including director Olivia Wilde, producer Margot Robbie, and screenwriter Tony McNamara, with a package currently set up at Warner Bros. A planned *Prophet* film featuring Jake Gyllenhaal never materialized. Range Media Partners will now manage his publishing, film, television, and gaming interests.
This signing could signal continued mainstream appetite for comic book properties beyond the major superhero franchises, as creators seek broader control over their intellectual property. For audiences, it may result in more diverse adaptations reaching screens and other media.
