Acer shrinks its gaming handheld with the Predator Atlas 7
Acer announced the Predator Atlas 7, a 7-inch version of its Atlas 8 handheld, with contoured grips and an anti-slip texture for easier handling. It packs up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, a 120Hz FHD display, and an 80Wh battery option weighing under 750 grams. Pricing is undisclosed, but it launches in North America in Q4 2026 and in EMEA starting November.
The Atlas 7 trims the display from 8 inches to 7, but retains the same Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and B390 graphics option as its larger sibling. Acer emphasizes ergonomics with contoured grips, a larger palm rest, recessed keys, and an anti-slip surface, aiming to reduce fatigue during long sessions. The device offers dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD slot, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, plus a dual-fan cooling system. Battery choices are 80Wh (under 750g) or 60Wh (under 700g). It includes two months each of Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Acer also showed the 8-inch Project DualPlay Mini concept, which doubles as a handheld and laptop-like productivity station.
This smaller handheld could broaden Acer’s appeal to gamers who find 8-inch devices too bulky, potentially shifting portable gaming preferences toward lighter, more ergonomic designs. With its high-refresh display and powerful chip, it may pressure competitors to match performance-per-gram. Consumers could benefit from more choice in premium handhelds, though undisclosed pricing and a late-2026 North American launch may limit early adoption.
