These included requests for extra income for Leonard, assistance with business introductions, and other improper benefits dating from Leonard's 2019 free agency through his 2021 contract extension. Robertson allegedly made these demands directly to Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and executives Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker.
Leonard, through his new agent Harrison Gaines, stated he accepted responsibility for his inner circle's actions while denying knowledge of any intent to circumvent the salary cap. The Clippers denied the charges and pledged to challenge the penalties, which include losing five future first-round draft picks and a $30 million fine. Robertson could not be reached for comment.
