Stu Flesland III was named Colorado's Organizational Pitcher of the Month for August after posting a 1.29 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across six starts and 35 innings. The 25-year-old left-hander had struggled earlier in the season, allowing 11 runs in four innings at Triple-A before returning to Double-A and thriving. His sweeping slider, thrown from a three-quarters arm slot, has been particularly effective against left-handed hitters.

Flesland's arsenal relies on deception rather than velocity, with his fastball topping out near 91 mph while his sweeping slider comes in around 78.5 mph. The three-quarters delivery creates an unusual angle that makes the slider particularly difficult for left-handed batters to track, and his willingness to throw off-speed pitches in unexpected counts has kept hitters guessing throughout his recent stretch.

The turnaround began after he returned from the injured list in early July and shifted back into a starting role. His brief Triple-A struggles — 11 runs allowed across four innings — appear to have been corrected through the extended Double-A work, where he has held opponents to a .185 batting average while maintaining a 0.97 WHIP across 35 innings.
