UMusic to Open First UK Hotel in London's Denmark Street
UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle is partnering with Outernet London to open UMusic Hotel Denmark Street, its first hotel in the UK, expected in Q4 2026. The hotel will be part of Outernet's entertainment district, which includes live music venues. The collaboration also involves UMusic taking over programming at The Lower Third venue.
The hotel marks UMHL's second European property after its Madrid debut in 2022, and will anchor a district already housing two live music venues. UMHL's programming duties at The Lower Third, a 200-capacity basement space, will involve coordination with Universal Music Group's labels and creative partners, extending the company's reach beyond traditional hospitality.
Denmark Street's musical pedigree stretches back to the 1950s, when guitar shops first lined the Soho thoroughfare. Recording studios there later attracted The Rolling Stones and Elton John, while the former 12 Bar Club hosted early performances by Adele and Jeff Buckley. The adjacent Outernet Live venue, rebranded in June from its previous name HERE, features four-story immersive screens previously used for Oasis events.
This development could reshape how music heritage is commercialized in London, potentially drawing more tourism to Soho while raising concerns about gentrification's effect on the area's independent music scene. Local artists and small venues may face pressure as corporate hospitality expands, though the partnership's focus on emerging artist programming could also create new performance opportunities. The balance between preservation and development will likely define the district's cultural character.
