Gonzaga's Title Hopes Hinge on Eligibility and Frontcourt Depth

Gonzaga's roster features a formidable frontcourt led by Braden Huff and Massamba Diop, but eligibility questions surround several transfers and international commits. Huff’s mid-season knee injury cut short a breakout campaign in which he converted nearly 70 percent of his two-point attempts. His return pairs with Diop, an Arizona State transfer, to give Gonzaga a frontcourt with both scoring punch and rim protection. Younger bigs Jefferson and Funches add depth, while Almansa, a 21-year-old international prospect, remains a key variable pending eligibility.

Perimeter shooting is a lingering concern after last season’s poor three-point output. Wiggins, who led all players 6’10 or taller in three-point percentage, could address that if cleared. Bennett’s status is tied to a stay granted in Ohio, and Lee’s eligibility also remains unresolved. The departures of Venters and Saint-Supery removed two of last year’s top outside threats.
