Manchester City's £458m rebuild leaves Haaland backup question unanswered

The club also sold key players including Rodri and Bernardo Silva. However, the spending has not addressed the lack of a clear backup for striker Erling Haaland.

The club's spending spree extends beyond the headline £458m figure. Since January, City have committed £542m on new players while recouping £334m through sales, producing a net outlay of £208m. Tottenham's obligation to buy Omar Marmoush for £60m next summer will further offset costs.
Only four players remain from the squad that beat Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League final. City's January additions included Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, while Nico O'
