Anker's Eufy MindBase serves as a local AI hub for home security
Anker has introduced the Eufy MindBase, a hub that processes security camera footage locally using an on-device large language model developed by the company. The device also functions as a smart home hub supporting Matter, with plans to expand to energy management and robot vacuum control. Pricing and release date have not been announced.
The MindBase functions as a Matter controller running version 1.5, supporting more than 40 device categories such as lighting, sensors, and HVAC systems. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Zigbee, with compatibility extending to Apple HomeKit Secure Video, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant. The hub accommodates up to 16 wireless cameras, four wired cameras, and 34 sensors, offering expandable storage reaching 48TB.
Anker's announcement follows past scrutiny over Eufy's encryption claims, which prompted the company to overhaul its security approach toward local storage and end-to-end encryption. Future plans for the MindBase include energy management features and robot vacuum coordination, though pricing and availability remain undisclosed.
