SwitchBot's new smart lock supports 19 unlock methods for European doors
SwitchBot unveiled the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo at IFA 2026, a retrofit smart lock offering up to 19 entry methods, including fingerprint, facial recognition, and palm vein scanning. The system is designed to fit 99 percent of European lock types and includes a keypad, hub, and the lock itself. It is priced at €339.99 and aims to replace traditional keys with versatile access options.
The Lock Ultra Max's motor delivers over nine kilograms of turning force at 160rpm, roughly three times the rotation speed of its predecessor, which SwitchBot says helps it handle the varied cylinder types found across European door hardware. The combo package bundles the Keypad Vision Pro and Hub Mini Matter alongside the lock itself, with additional adapters sold separately for less common installations.
At €339.99, the system costs more than last year's Lock Ultra Vision, which was priced at $249.99 and already claimed broad European compatibility. The new model's emphasis on biometric options—including palm vein scanning and facial recognition—reflects a shift toward contactless entry methods that don't require carrying keys or remembering codes.
