Lenovo concept laptop expands from 14 to 17 inches with rollable display
Lenovo's ThinkBook Project Swan, announced at IFA 2026, is a business laptop with a flexible OLED screen that horizontally expands from 14 to 17 inches. The device is 0.7 inches thick and weighs 3.5 pounds, making it more portable than typical 17-inch laptops. It appears more polished than earlier rollable concepts, though it remains a prototype.
The ThinkBook Project Swan uses a motorized flexible OLED panel that slides out from within the laptop's lid, converting a standard 14-inch clamshell into a 17-inch display. Its horizontal expansion mechanism differs from Lenovo's previous vertical rollable design, and the company has positioned this model as a more practical business-oriented alternative to its larger gaming-focused concept.
The prototype runs on Intel's Lunar Lake architecture, though any retail version would likely ship with newer processors. Lenovo's earlier rollable ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 launched at $3,500, and the Swan's simpler construction may help reduce costs while addressing durability concerns about its small hinge and heavy lid assembly.
This concept could reshape expectations for portable productivity, offering professionals a single device that adapts between compact travel and expanded workspace without external monitors. If commercialized at a reasonable price, it may pressure competitors to accelerate flexible-display development.
