Warner Bros Discovery and Dogus Media Forge Turkish Scripted Partnership

Warner Bros. Discovery and Doğuş Media Group have entered a strategic partnership to co-finance and co-broadcast Turkish scripted series. The first project under the pact is the romantic comedy-drama 'Salted Love' (Tuzlu Kahve), produced by Poll Films, which will premiere on Star TV before arriving on HBO Max in Turkey and internationally a day later. The deal shares production costs while supplying fresh content to subscribers, though the shows will not be exclusive to the platform.
The partnership represents a cost-sharing approach for WBD's Turkish content strategy. After acquiring BluTV in late 2023 and rebranding it as HBO Max, the company has invested heavily in local originals. This arrangement with Doğuş Media Group spreads production expenses while maintaining a steady pipeline of new programming for subscribers.
'Salted Love' follows a broadcast-first model, debuting on free-to-air Star TV before reaching HBO Max audiences in Turkey and abroad the following day. Because these co-produced shows won't be exclusive to the streaming service, both partners benefit from the content across different distribution windows, broadening its reach.
This partnership could reshape how Turkish television content reaches global audiences. By sharing production costs, both companies may sustain higher output of local programming, potentially strengthening Turkey's position as an entertainment exporter. Viewers could benefit
