Arbitration Panel Directs India to Halt Ratle Dam Works Under Water Treaty

An international arbitration court has ordered India to comply with the Indus Waters Treaty and stop construction on the Ratle hydroelectric plant in Kashmir. The tribunal concluded that no valid reasons supported India's suspension or termination of the treaty. This follows India's decision to put the treaty on hold in April 2025 after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
