Classicist Emily Wilson Undertakes Fresh Translation of Homer's Odyssey After Criticizing Nolan's Film

Emily Wilson, the University of Pennsylvania professor whose 2017 translation of The Odyssey influenced Christopher Nolan's film, is now producing an entirely new translation of the epic, not a revision. She has publicly criticized Nolan's adaptation as lacking depth and misrepresenting the concept of xenia, and has also expressed disapproval of the Percy Jackson book series. Wilson told the Associated Press she is about halfway through the new translation, a rare undertaking for a translator to redo the same work from scratch.
