LZ Detector Anomaly Suggests Heavy WIMP, But Not Yet a Discovery

An unusual event in the LUX-ZEPLIN detector could indicate a weakly interacting massive particle with a mass exceeding 200 GeV/c², more than 200 times a proton's mass. The data also point to a non-standard interaction between WIMPs and normal matter. Still, the result falls short of the 5-sigma threshold needed to claim a discovery.
