Official University Grants Committee data reveals that among the five Central Asian nations, Kazakhstan contributes the highest volume of students to Hong Kong's publicly funded universities. The enrolment figure climbed from 97 to 493 over an eight-year span, marking the steepest growth trajectory in the region.
City University of Hong Kong stands out as the primary destination, hosting 203 Kazakhstani undergraduates this academic year—a notable jump from 135 the previous year. A 2023 memorandum of understanding between the university and Kazakhstan underpins this relationship, while the institution's council chairman has praised these students as top performers and highlighted the Kazakh government's strong dedication to youth education.
