GM Management Founders Establish New Production Banner i80 Entertainment

Ram Getz and Michael Mortensen, partners at GM Management, have launched i80 Entertainment, an independent production company. They will continue to run their talent management firm alongside the new venture. The banner already has several films in post-production, including a thriller starring Angelina Jolie and a comedy with Hugh Bonneville.
The newly formed i80 Entertainment will concentrate on developing financially viable, star-centric projects. Getz and Mortensen, who founded their management firm six years ago, intend to run both businesses concurrently.
Their initial slate features three films already completed. These include an Angelina Jolie thriller directed by Eva Sørhaug, a suspense film with Alec Baldwin and Jim Gaffigan, and a British comedy starring Hugh Bonneville. This expansion coincides with recent talent signings at their agency.
This move by talent managers to establish a production arm could reshape how projects are packaged and financed, potentially giving them greater control over their clients' careers. This vertical integration may influence the broader entertainment ecosystem by creating new pathways for independent films to reach audiences, bypassing traditional studio gatekeeping. Actors and filmmakers signed with the agency could benefit from increased opportunities, while competitors might feel pressure to adopt similar models. The success of this venture may signal a growing trend of management firms expanding into production.
