Ex-60 Minutes Editor Accuses CBS Leadership of Pushing Political Agenda
Guy Campanile, who was dismissed from CBS News in May, claims that new executives sought to inject White House messaging into the program's reporting. He stated that he and other fired staffers refused to go along with what he called the destruction of the show's integrity. Campanile had worked at the network for 34 years.
Campanile's remarks emerged from a private social media post that was subsequently accessed by The Guardian and circulated by journalist Justin Baragona. He indicated that a period of introspection led him to speak publicly about his May dismissal.
His termination occurred alongside other notable program figures, including correspondents Scott Pelley and Sharyn Alfonsi. Campanile asserted that he and his peers rejected involvement in what they perceived as the degradation of the show's standing.
