Milwaukee Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski threw his 1,000th pitch of the season at 100 mph or faster during Tuesday's game against the Cubs, a feat no other starting pitcher has achieved in the Statcast era. He has now recorded 1,010 such pitches this year, averaging 37 per start. Only three relievers have ever surpassed 500 triple-digit pitches in a season, making Misiorowski's accomplishment unprecedented.
Misiorowski's milestone came on a 100.0 mph pitch to Seiya Suzuki. The Brewers' staff had already surpassed the previous team record of 673 triple-digit pitches, set by the 2018 Cardinals. Only three relievers have ever reached 500 in a season, making his 1,010 total even more remarkable.
He has produced nine games with at least 50 such pitches, while all other starting pitchers combined have none. Nolan Ryan recently described the 24-year-old's arm as a rare gift, noting he hasn't seen a better one in years.
