Alibaba's AI agents now operate across rival platforms
Alibaba Cloud launched QoderWake, enabling users to create AI-powered digital employees that can function within DingTalk, Feishu, and WeCom. The tool has deployed nearly 100,000 digital employees executing about 2 million tasks. This move signals a shift from walled gardens to cross-platform integration in enterprise AI.
The upgraded QoderWake allows users to define a digital worker with a single prompt. These agents can independently parse shared files, calendars, and chat histories across the three dominant workplace apps. Alibaba also pre-loaded ten specialized roles, such as data analysts and product managers, refined using professional datasets.
Since its April debut, the tool has placed roughly 100,000 virtual employees in real business settings, completing about two million operations. This cross-platform availability marks a notable departure from the tech sector's customary closed ecosystems, as Alibaba now integrates its AI into rivals' communication suites.
This development could reshape enterprise software competition by making AI assistants interoperable across rival platforms. Businesses may benefit from reduced switching costs and more streamlined workflows, as digital workers handle routine coordination. However, employees might face increased monitoring or displacement of administrative tasks.
