Central Florida High School Football Players of the Week Nominees Announced

High School On SI has nominated 16 players for Central Florida Football Player of the Week from games played Sept. 3-5. Nominees include Oviedo's Johnnie Cobbs, who rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns in an overtime win, and St. Cloud's Jeremiah Lattier, who accounted for two scores in double overtime. Voting closes Sept. 13.
The weekly recognition program highlights 16 athletes from games played September 3-5. Notable performances include a three-touchdown effort in different phases by Tyrese Jefferson and a double-overtime victory guided by Jeremiah Lattier.
Voting for the honor remains open until September 13. The previous weekly award went to Deltona's Allen Baldwin, and the current winner will be announced the following week.
This recognition could boost local community engagement by spotlighting high school athletes and their achievements. It may influence college recruiters and scouts who monitor such awards, potentially shaping scholarship opportunities for the nominees. Additionally, the voting process could foster school spirit and regional pride among fans, families, and alumni, while also providing a platform for young athletes to gain visibility beyond their immediate circles.
