Noah Kahan to Sing Simon & Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' at Emmy Ceremony
Kahan is slated to perform the iconic ballad during the in memoriam segment of the 2026 Primetime Emmys. The song was a six-week Hot 100 number one in 1970 and won two Grammy Awards. The telecast will also feature a tribute to the late Dolly Parton.
The ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, airing live on NBC and streaming on Peacock. The chosen ballad topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks in 1970, earned Grammy wins for record and song of the year, and entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.
The telecast will also honor the late Dolly Parton, who died Aug. 25 at age 80 and previously won a Primetime Emmy in 2001. Mariska Hargitay hosts, while Michael J. Fox receives the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay executive produce.
This performance could amplify the emotional resonance of the in memoriam segment, potentially drawing younger viewers to a classic ballad while honoring industry losses. The simultaneous tribute to Dolly Parton may reinforce her enduring cultural legacy, offering a shared moment of reflection for fans and peers. Kahan's visibility at such a high-profile event may also boost his awards-season momentum ahead of November's Grammy nominations.
