Netflix Pulls the Plug on Texas Drama 'Ransom Canyon' Following Two Seasons
Netflix has decided not to renew the romantic drama 'Ransom Canyon' for a third season. The series, starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, premiered its second season in July and followed three ranching families in a small Texas town. The cancellation also affects hundreds of local production workers in New Mexico who were employed during filming.
The series, created by April Blair, centered on three ranching families in Texas Hill Country. Its ensemble cast included Duhamel and Kelly alongside Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Casey W. Johnson, Philip Winchester, and Justin Johnson Cortez. The second season, released in July, consisted of eight episodes and continued the intertwined stories of Staten Kirkland and Quinn O'Grady.
The decision also carries significant economic consequences for New Mexico's production sector. During the second season's filming in 2025, the show hired over 700 local residents, comprising 380 crew members, 40 principal actors, and 300 background actors. State film officials had previously highlighted the production as a testament to New Mexico's growing capacity for long-term series work.
