Drone strike on Tatarstan industrial hub kills two, injures 12
A drone attack on September 13 caused a fire at an industrial facility in Nizhnekamsk, a major oil refining and petrochemical center in Russia's Tatarstan. Regional authorities reported two deaths and 12 injuries from the strike.
The TANECO refinery, operated by Tatneft, processes over 16 million metric tons of crude annually, producing gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene, and marine fuel. The Slavyansky refinery in Krasnodar Krai has a capacity of roughly 5.2 million metric tons per year and supplies fuel to the Russian Armed Forces, according to Ukrainian military officials. A third strike targeted a facility in Millerovo, Rostov Oblast, used for storing and launching attack drones.
Russian authorities reported that falling drone debris damaged a gas pipeline in a residential area of Sloviansk-on-Kuban. Flight restrictions were temporarily imposed at airports in Nizhnekamsk, Kazan, and Bugulma overnight. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed air defenses intercepted 389 Ukrainian drones, though this figure could not be independently verified.
