Affinity 100 Ranks Niche Creators Above Famous Influencers

The Affinity 100, created by Evan Shapiro and Shira Lazar, prioritizes audience engagement over follower counts. Niche figures like Blair Imani and B. Dylan Hollis top the list, while MrBeast and Charli D'Amelio appear much lower. The list argues that smaller creators often drive stronger reactions and brand interest.
The Affinity 100 was developed by media analyst Evan Shapiro and What's Trending founder Shira Lazar, with sponsorship from Whalar Group and its Foam platform. Its ranking methodology weights shares twice as heavily as likes or comments, on the theory that sharing signals stronger audience loyalty. The list was first presented at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam.
The rankings deliberately contrast with conventional popularity charts. MrBeast lands at 85, Mark Rober at 90, and Charli D'Amelio at 100, while smaller figures like educator Blair Imani, baker B. Dylan Hollis, and Ash Baber occupy the top three spots. Shapiro notes that nano creators generate roughly triple the response rate of macro creators, which he says explains why most brands now prefer working with smaller influencers.
This list could reshape how brands allocate marketing budgets, potentially redirecting funds from celebrity influencers toward niche creators who demonstrate deeper audience engagement. It may also influence how emerging creators perceive their career prospects, suggesting that dedicated followings can rival massive reach. However, the methodology remains one perspective among many, and its long-term effect on industry practices will depend on whether advertisers adopt these metrics broadly.
