Film Production Firm Ryder Picture Company Changes Name to Embrace

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett have rebranded their production company, Ryder Picture Company, as Embrace, reflecting its evolution beyond its original identity. The duo's recent slate includes 'Onslaught' with Adam Wingard, 'I Love Boosters' with Boots Riley, and 'The Death of Robin Hood' with Michael Sarnoski, as well as the upcoming 'Shiver' starring Keanu Reeves. They emphasize a genre-agnostic approach, working across studios, streamers, and independent projects.
The rebranding caps a two-year evolution for the company, which Ryder launched in 2021 before Swett joined as partner. Swett's path included executive stints at Lord Miller during the Lego Movie and Spider-Verse era, plus a role at Mythos Studios under Marvel founder David Maisel. Ryder's producing credits span Christopher Nolan's Memento and The Prestige, along with the Oscar-nominated Arrival. The new name emerged from a dinner conversation where Ryder, offered a second martini, decided to "embrace" it. The company's current slate spans horror, comedy, and drama, with projects set at A24, Neon, and Netflix.
This rebranding reflects a broader shift in independent film production, where mid-sized companies must remain agile across genres and platforms to survive. The move may signal to emerging filmmakers that flexible, director-first partnerships are increasingly viable outside traditional studio structures. For audiences, this could mean a more diverse range of films reaching theaters and streamers, as producers prioritize creative vision over franchise potential in an uncertain marketplace.
