Finnish Psycho-Thriller 'Dangerous Woman' Gets Greenlight with Nordic and German Co-Producers
Finnish production company Gutsy Pictures has secured a greenlight from MTV Finland for the six-part psychological thriller 'Dangerous Woman,' with Germany's Zeitsprung and Sweden's Götafilm joining as co-producers. The series, created by Marika Makaroff and directed by Zaida Bergroth, has already been pre-bought by Sweden's TV4. It will be pitched at Barcelona's Serielizados Pro Mind the Gap event in October.
The greenlight marks a significant cross-border collaboration for the Nordic drama, with MTV Finland commissioning the project while Sweden's TV4 has already secured broadcast rights. Germany's Zeitsprung and Sweden's Götafilm join as co-producers, strengthening the series' international financing and distribution potential ahead of its October pitch at Barcelona's Serielizados Pro Mind the Gap event.
Director Zaida Bergroth brings considerable pedigree to the project, having helmed "Tove," which was Finland's Oscar submission. Screenwriter Kevin Rundle, a BAFTA winner known for "Gangs of London" and "The Thaw," previously collaborated with Gutsy Pictures on "L/Over," a Canneseries-selected production that became one of MTV Finland's most successful programs this year.
This Nordic-German co-production could strengthen the international visibility of Finnish television drama, which has historically received less global attention than Swedish or Danish series. The involvement of established talent like Bergroth and Rundle may help the project secure additional distribution deals beyond the Nordic region, potentially opening doors for more Finnish-led genre productions in the competitive European streaming market.
