Intel drops integrated graphics plan for Nova Lake desktop, shifts to next-gen Razor Lake

According to tipster Jaykihn, Intel has cancelled a planned Nova Lake-S desktop processor featuring 12 Xe3P graphics cores. The design, which would have combined 4 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 4 LPE-cores with a powerful integrated GPU, is now expected to appear in the subsequent Razor Lake generation. The move suggests Intel is postponing its high-end gaming APU for desktops until a later architecture.
The cancelled design paired a modest 4+8+4 core configuration with a substantial 12-core Xe3P graphics engine, requiring a dedicated 65W power path for the integrated GPU alone. That power appetite mirrors Intel's Arc B390, which sustains up to 80W in current Panther Lake systems and handhelds. Xe3P itself remains largely unannounced outside Intel's Crescent Island AI accelerator, though it supports up to 32 Xe cores, FP8/FP4 data types, and larger cache hierarchies.
Intel's broader Nova Lake lineup reportedly spans from 6 to 52 cores with TDPs reaching 175W, and the company has framed this generation as critical after Arrow Lake's lukewarm reception. The rumored bLLC cache feature targets AMD's X3D gaming dominance. Shifting the 12Xe design to Razor Lake suggests Intel prioritizes core-count and cache improvements first, deferring its high-end integrated graphics play to a later architecture.
This delay could affect budget-conscious desktop buyers who hoped for a capable integrated-graphics gaming option without a discrete GPU purchase.
