Meta introduces Meta One subscription with expanded AI features

Meta launched Meta One, a subscription service offering expanded AI tools and premium features across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Plans range from $7.99/month for Core to $19.99/month for Premium, with business tiers starting at $14.99/month. The move follows Meta's earlier subscription additions and aims to monetize its Muse AI models.
Meta One bundles existing per-app perks (Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, WhatsApp Plus) into unified tiers, with AI usage as the main differentiator between Core and Premium. The company declined to specify exact AI limits, citing variability by region and system conditions. Business plans scale from $14.99 to $499 monthly, adding tools like story scheduling, exportable analytics, and enhanced profiles with review displays.
The launch follows Meta’s March subscription rollout, which Appfigures data shows already boosted daily revenue sharply—Instagram averaging $1.2 million and Facebook $528,000 in early September. Meta also plans to fold Edits Plus into Meta One later, offering extra cloud storage and AI assistant access for its video-editing app.
This subscription push could reshape how everyday users and small creators pay for social tools, potentially widening a gap between free-tier experiences and paid AI features. Businesses may face pressure to subscribe for competitive reach, while casual users might see more aggressive prompts to upgrade. The impact could be uneven across regions, as pricing and availability vary, possibly reinforcing existing digital divides in access to advanced creation and automation tools.
