SNL Finalizes Season 52 Cast with Two Newcomers

Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie have joined 'Saturday Night Live' as new cast members for Season 52, which premieres Sept. 26 with host Jalen Brunson. This completes the ensemble, as all other Season 51 cast members are returning except Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang, who departed earlier. The show also confirmed that writer Martin Herlihy of Please Don't Destroy is leaving his post.
The additions of Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie mark the first new faces for the upcoming season, rounding out a cast that otherwise remains intact from the prior year. Their arrivals come after two notable exits: Chloe Fineman’s departure was announced in July, while Bowen Yang left mid-season in December. Additionally, writer Martin Herlihy, a member of the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy, is stepping away from his writing duties. The season premiere is set for Sept. 26, with New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson hosting.
This casting news could signal a period of transition for “SNL,” as the show balances veteran stability with fresh talent. The departures of Fineman and Yang, both prominent performers, may shift the show’s comedic dynamics, while the newcomers could bring new energy. For audiences, the changes might affect recurring sketches and character work, potentially influencing viewer engagement as the series enters its 52nd season. The show’s continued relevance in late-night television may depend on how smoothly this blend of old and new resonates.
