AI helps port Black Ops 2's Hijacked map into Minecraft as a Fabric mod

A developer named Luckey Faraday used OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra to rebuild a browser-based version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's Hijacked map as a Java mod for Minecraft. The mod runs directly on Minecraft's OpenGL context, with map, collision, bots, and weapons all functioning as a Fabric mod. Video footage shows the map running at approximately 45 fps.
The project began as a browser-based port of the 2012 Call of Duty map, which Faraday initially placed inside Minecraft as a playable game displayed on a virtual PC screen. GPT-6 Astra then rewrote the entire project in Java, allowing the map, collision detection, bot navigation, weapons, and rendering to run natively through Minecraft's Fabric mod loader. Video footage demonstrates the result running at roughly 45 frames per second.
Faraday runs an AI builders' community where members collaborate on demos, sharing logs and code. The developer notes significant work remains, with potential future additions including more maps, expanded weaponry, and multiplayer support. This follows other ambitious Minecraft projects, such as CraftGPT, a working 5-million-parameter ChatGPT model embedded within the game.
This demonstration may signal a shift in how AI tools accelerate game development and modding. If GPT-class models can reliably port complex game assets between engines, hobbyist developers could produce ambitious cross-game projects with far less manual coding effort. This could democratize game modification, lowering barriers for newcomers while potentially raising questions about intellectual property, as AI-assisted ports of commercial content may blur lines around unauthorized derivative works.
