Dubai International Film Festival to Return in 2027 After Decade-Long Hiatus
The Dubai International Film Festival, shuttered in 2018, will be revived with a new edition starting Dec. 8, 2027. The announcement came from Mona Ghanem Al Marri of the Dubai Media Council during the Arab Media Summit. The festival's initial run spanned 2004 through 2018, during which time it grew into the region's leading cinematic event. Its closure was reportedly linked to reallocating public funds toward the Dubai expo.
The relaunch was unveiled by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, vice chairperson of the Dubai Media Council, at the Arab Media Summit. The 2027 edition, opening Dec. 8, will prioritize Arab cinema and is intended to solidify Dubai's standing as a film and television production center.
