Frameline Announces Inaugural Fall Festival Selections
Frameline, the queer arts nonprofit, has unveiled the lineup for its first fall festival, scheduled for October and November across San Francisco venues. The showcase features five LGBTQ+ films—Clarissa, Coward, Elsinore, Mouse, and Tangles—alongside the LGBTQ+ artists involved. Executive director Allegra Madsen emphasized the event's role in building community and honoring queer history during LGBTQ+ History Month.
The fall festival marks a new chapter for Frameline, which celebrated its 50th San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival in June. The October–November showcase will screen five selections across San Francisco venues, spotlighting both the films and the queer artists working in front of and behind the camera.
Executive director Allegra Madsen framed the event as an act of collective memory, noting its timing during LGBTQ+ History Month. She described queer audiences as active community-builders rather than passive viewers, with each film serving as a distinct contribution to shaping and preserving queer historical narratives.
This inaugural fall festival may extend Frameline's cultural reach beyond its established summer event, potentially drawing new audiences during LGBTQ+ History Month.
