Gabriel Brooks, a senior offensive lineman at North Crowley, announced he will play college football at TCU instead of Stephen F. Austin. Brooks received his TCU offer earlier this month before making the switch public Thursday. He joins quarterback Brice McCurdy as the second known commitment in TCU's 2027 recruiting class, and the Horned Frogs' coaching staff, including head coach Sonny Dykes, was tagged in his announcement post. Brooks has played offensive tackle for roughly a year and expects to remain at that position in Fort Worth.
The timing places his decision directly before North Crowley's district opener against Duncanville, a matchup between two of Texas' most prominent high school programs. The Panthers enter unbeaten at 3-0 after wins over Aledo, Southlake Carroll, and Humble Summer Creek, while Duncanville sits at 1-2. North Crowley won the Class 6A Division I state title in 2024 with a perfect 16-0 record.
