Bose expands open-ear lineup with Ultra Open 2 and Sport Open earbuds

Bose unveils two open-ear earbuds: the premium Ultra Open (2nd Gen) and the new Sport Open model. The Ultra Open adds deeper bass, a Cinema immersive audio mode, aptX support, and improved call clarity, while the Sport Open targets active users with a $199 price point. Both products go on sale starting October 1.
The Ultra Open (2nd Gen) carries a $299 price tag and introduces a Cinema spatial audio mode alongside adaptive volume adjustments and upgraded microphone technology for voice pickup. It adds aptX codec support for high-resolution wireless audio, plus Google Fast Pair and Find Hub integration, available in Black or White Smoke.
The $199 Sport Open model targets fitness enthusiasts with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, physical button controls for music management, and Bluetooth multipoint connectivity. Both models launch October 1, with Bose positioning the Sport Open against rivals like Shokz while maintaining its signature sleeker aesthetic and broader color choices.
This expansion could reshape the open-ear earbud market by giving consumers clearer choices between premium everyday listening and budget-conscious fitness use. Active users may benefit from more affordable durable options, while audiophiles gain access to enhanced spatial audio and hi-res codecs. The October launch timing could influence holiday purchasing decisions, potentially pressuring competitors like Sony and Shokz to differentiate their offerings or adjust pricing strategies.
