Dulles Capital One Lounge resumes full operations after ventilation upgrades
The Capital One Lounge at Washington Dulles International Airport reopened for full service on Sept. 18 after months of infrastructure and ventilation improvements. During the partial closure, eligible visitors had access to a limited food counter and grab-and-go items, but now the full 8,500-square-foot space with its bar, buffet, and seating is available again. Access remains limited to Venture X cardholders with a departing flight within three hours, with guest fees of $45 per adult and $25 per child aged 2–17.
The Dulles lounge's months-long partial closure left eligible visitors with only a dedicated food counter, hot options, grab-and-go selections, and limited cafe seating outside the main space. The completed upgrades targeted temperature consistency and year-round comfort, leaving the lounge's physical layout and design untouched.
Access policies remain unchanged following the reopening. Venture X and Venture X Business cardholders must hold a departing flight within three hours, while those spending $75,000 annually receive two complimentary guests per visit. Capital One's lounge network continues growing, with a LaGuardia location opened earlier in 2026 and a 14,000-square-foot Charlotte lounge announced as its eighth site.
The full reopening restores a premium airport amenity for premium credit card holders, a group that values comfort and efficiency during travel. Venture X cardholders may see improved layover experiences, while tiered guest fees could shape how travelers use their benefits. As Capital One expands its lounge footprint, competition among credit card issuers offering airport perks may intensify, potentially giving travelers more choices and higher standards across the industry.
