Disney appoints former Character.AI chief as its inaugural technology officer
Disney has named Karandeep Anand, previously CEO of AI chatbot firm Character.AI, as its first chief technology officer. The appointment comes after Disney sent Character.AI a cease-and-desist letter in 2025 over alleged copyright infringement of its characters. Anand, who also held roles at Facebook and Microsoft, will report to new Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro.
