Hirebotics expands cobot reach with conveyor tracking and modular rails
Hirebotics introduced two new capabilities for its collaborative robots: line tracking for conveyor-based painting and modular linear rails to extend working range. The features, unveiled at IMTS 2026, let the robots handle moving parts and large assemblies without stopping production lines. The company says its no-code Beacon platform simplifies setup and operation for manufacturers.
The line tracking capability relies on an encoder and sensor to monitor conveyor movement, with calibration performed through the Beacon platform. This lets the Cobot Painter detect arriving parts automatically and adjust its painting path in real time as conveyor speed fluctuates, eliminating the need to halt production for finishing operations.
The linear rail extends the cobot's reach beyond its standard 68.9-inch envelope, offered in 5-foot increments or custom lengths. It complements existing customer adaptations such as magnetic mounting, inverted configurations, and positioners. The rail supports welding, plasma cutting, and painting applications, giving manufacturers flexibility for large workpieces without repositioning parts.
These capabilities could broaden cobot adoption among small and mid-sized fabricators that previously lacked the programming expertise for complex automation. By enabling continuous production flow and handling of oversized parts, the technology may reduce labor demands in finishing and welding roles while improving consistency. Smaller shops could become more competitive with larger operations, though workforce transitions and retraining needs may accompany such automation shifts.
