Citi ThankYou Points Now Transfer to Japan Airlines with 30% Bonus
Citi ThankYou Rewards has added Japan Airlines Mileage Bank as a transfer partner, allowing 1:1 transfers for premium cards. A limited-time 30% bonus means 1,000 Citi points become 1,300 JAL miles. This opens up business-class awards to Japan from as few as 43,000 transferred points.
The new partnership gives premium Citi cardholders a 1:1 transfer rate, while no-annual-fee cards transfer at a reduced 0.7 ratio. The 30% bonus runs through Oct. 24, and transfers post instantly, as the author verified with a test transfer of 1,000 points.
JAL miles also unlock value beyond Japan routes. They can book Oneworld partners like American Airlines and British Airways, plus nonalliance carriers such as Air France. Travelers should open a Mileage Bank account well ahead of booking, since JAL blocks redemptions within 60 days of account creation.
