Five-Star Forward Dawson Battie Chooses Nebraska, Setting Program Record
Five-star power forward Dawson Battie announced his commitment to Nebraska, becoming the highest-ranked recruit in program history. The 6-foot-8 senior from Dallas selected the Huskers over 22 other schools, including Stanford and Kentucky. He joins four-star forward Ty Schlagel in Nebraska's 2027 recruiting class.
Battie, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound senior at St. Mark's High School in Dallas, ranks No. 26 nationally in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite. Nebraska first offered him in October 2024, and he made three visits to Lincoln—an August 2025 trip, a February visit to watch the Huskers face No. 9 Illinois, and an official visit in mid-September that preceded his pledge.
He joins four-star forward Ty Schlagel, the No. 137 prospect from St. Paul, Minnesota, who committed in October 2025. The Huskers may also pursue Ahmad Hudson, a four-star forward committed to LSU who is also the nation's top-ranked tight end prospect and has visited Nebraska four times.
This commitment could elevate Nebraska's national recruiting profile and signal that the program can compete with traditional bluebloods for elite talent. It may energize the fan base, boost ticket demand, and influence future recruits' perceptions of the Huskers as a viable destination for top-tier players.
