Apple Music Unveils Plans for New London Concert Hall

Apple Music announced a new 600-capacity live performance space called Apple Music Hall at Battersea Power Station in London. The venue will feature a reconfigurable stage, a 48-speaker spatial audio system, and full production facilities for recording and broadcasting. Artists will be able to capture performances in Spatial Audio and multi-camera video, with live radio broadcasts from Apple Music Radio also planned from the site.
The venue's technical specifications position it as a hybrid performance and production space. Its 38-foot stage can shift between traditional front-facing shows and in-the-round configurations, while the 48-speaker spatial audio system and 16-camera broadcast infrastructure allow simultaneous live capture and multi-format distribution. Two professional recording and mix studios support the production capabilities.
Battersea Power Station carries notable musical heritage. Pink Floyd's 1977 album *Animals* featured the building on its cover with an inflatable pig between its towers. The site has hosted performances by Mumford & Sons and Elton John, and its redevelopment history includes a rejected Chelsea F.C. stadium bid before Malaysian investors purchased it in 2012. Apple occupied 500,000 square feet there in 2022.
This venue could reshape how live performances are captured and distributed, potentially setting new industry standards for spatial audio and broadcast-ready recordings. Artists may gain expanded reach through Apple Music Radio and multi-camera video, while fans could experience shows beyond physical attendance. However, the move may intensify competition for independent London venues, as a major tech company enters the live music space with significant production resources.
