Chvrches Break Three-Year Hiatus With New Single 'Roses'

The Scottish synth-pop trio has released their first track since 2021's Screen Violence, titled 'Roses,' which they describe as their most cohesive vision yet. Frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, who put out a solo album in the interim, said the band pushed themselves to avoid repeating past sounds. They also announced two charity shows in Glasgow and London later this October.

The trio’s return marks the longest gap between their albums, following the release of Screen Violence in 2021. During that interval, Mayberry pursued a solo project, which informed the band’s renewed creative approach when they reconvened. The group deliberately sought to avoid revisiting familiar sonic territory, aiming instead for a fresh direction they feel represents their strongest collective statement to date.

The new single arrives via the Futures label, and the band has paired its release with two intimate charity performances scheduled for late October in Glasgow and London. These underplays, at venues not yet revealed, will donate proceeds to charitable causes, offering fans early access to material from this new chapter while supporting a good cause.
