Eight Sleep shrinks its smart bed cooler for solo sleepers
Eight Sleep unveiled the Pod 6, a sleep-temperature device now available in smaller and solo configurations to fit more bed frames. The company claims the new model cools or heats each side 20% faster and packs nine times more sensors for granular per-user control. It starts at $1,999 for solo sizes and $2,699 for standard sizes, with FDA approval sought for sleep apnea treatment.
The Pod 6's reduced footprint—50 percent smaller than prior models—allows it to mount on a wider range of bed frames, including Twin beds and individual sides of larger mattresses. Eight Sleep's sensor array now includes nine times more detection points, which the company says helps distinguish between adult users and pets or children sharing the bed, refining per-side temperature adjustments.
The company is simultaneously pursuing FDA clearance to market the device as a regulated treatment for sleep apnea in the United States. Eight Sleep recently secured $50 million in funding from Tether at a $1.5 billion valuation, and has expanded into China, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Singapore within the past year. CEO Matteo Franceschetti noted international markets now account for over 30 percent of revenue, with plans to enter additional Asian and Latin American regions.
This product could shift how consumers approach sleep health, moving temperature regulation from a luxury amenity toward a more personalized, data-driven wellness tool. Solo configurations may make the technology accessible to single sleepers and those with smaller beds, potentially broadening its user base. However, the $1,999 starting price may limit adoption to higher-income households, and the pursuit of FDA approval for sleep apnea could position the device as a medical alternative—though its effectiveness for that condition remains unproven until regulatory review concludes.
