Meta's Muse Agent Expands to Glasses and a Lightweight VR Headset

Meta announced at Connect 2026 that its Muse AI agent will be integrated into upcoming smart glasses, allowing voice-activated actions on objects in view. The company also unveiled Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight headset weighing about 100 grams, priced at $1,299.99 and expected in spring 2027. New Ray-Ban Meta models include an audio-only version and an upgraded camera-equipped pair.
The Muse agent's expansion follows its launch earlier this month, adding real-time voice interaction and an expressive digital avatar for longer conversations. A pocket-sized device called Muse Charm was teased without pricing or release details. The agent gains its own email address and can operate Mac applications with permission, continuing queued tasks after the user steps away.
The glasses lineup spans three tiers: the $349 audio-only Ray-Ban Meta Audio at 43 grams with 12-hour battery life, the $449 camera-equipped Gen 3, and the $1,299.99 Meta VR Glasses arriving in spring 2027. Existing Display glasses receive navigation and calling updates. Shopping partners include Walmart, Best Buy, and Sephora, with travel connections through Expedia.
Putting an AI agent in eyewear could shift how people handle routine tasks, potentially reducing phone dependence for quick actions like shopping or scheduling. However, the agent's ability to make purchases and modify calendars raises questions about consent and oversight. Users may need clear approval steps and activity logs to trust these systems. The lightweight VR headset could make immersive computing more portable, though its premium price may initially limit adoption to early technology enthusiasts.
