Vancouver Firm to Buy B.C. Hotel Portfolio
Synvest is acquiring eight hotels under the Accent Inns and Hotel Zed brands from the Farmer family, adding about 800 rooms across six B.C. markets. The deal includes properties in Richmond, Burnaby, Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops, and Tofino, plus the ROAR restaurant. Terms were not disclosed, with closing expected at the end of November.

The portfolio includes five Accent Inns locations and three Hotel Zed properties, along with the ROAR restaurant in Tofino. Synvest's Roadside Hospitality arm already operates several Victoria hotels and has a downtown Vancouver development planned.
Accent Inns has been family-run since Terry Farmer established the company in 1986. The current CEO expressed strong attachment to the business and its culture. Synvest has indicated that current staff will remain and both hotel brands will continue operating after the deal closes at the end of November.
This deal could signal continued consolidation in British Columbia's hospitality sector, as larger investment platforms absorb family-owned operations. Travelers may see little immediate change, but pricing, service standards, and property investment decisions could shift under new ownership. Hotel employees across six markets may face adjustments in workplace culture and management practices.
