Disney+ and Hulu Raise Subscription Prices Across Most Tiers

Disney+ and Hulu have increased prices for most subscription tiers, with the ad-free plans rising by $2.50 to $21.49 per month. The ad-supported plans each go up by 50 cents to $12.49, while the ad-supported bundle remains at $12.99. New rates took effect September 23 for new subscribers, with existing subscribers seeing the increase on their next bill.
The latest adjustments see the ad-free tiers of both Disney+ and Hulu jump by $2.50, bringing each to $21.49 monthly. Interestingly, the combined ad-free bundle rises by only $2 to $21.99, making it just 50 cents more than a single service. Meanwhile, ad-supported plans increase by a modest 50 cents to $12.49, while the ad-supported bundle holds steady at $12.99.
These changes follow similar moves by competitors. Apple TV+ raised its fee to $14.99 in August, and Peacock increased both its ad-supported and ad-free plans. The new pricing applies immediately to new subscribers, while existing customers will see the increase on their next billing cycle. Bloomberg first reported the news.
The repeated price hikes across major streaming platforms may accelerate subscription fatigue among households. Consumers could be forced to reassess their entertainment budgets, potentially leading to increased churn or a shift toward ad-supported tiers. This may also encourage more careful selection of services, or even a return to traditional cable if costs become comparable. The impact is felt most by budget-conscious viewers and families who rely on multiple platforms.
