Anne Hathaway, who stars in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel Verity, said the movie had to include the book's headboard scene because it is too distinctive to omit. In the scene, her character bites a headboard during an intimate moment. Co-star Josh Hartnett recalled seeing multiple prop headboards with bite marks from the actresses.

Hathaway, who also serves as a producer, noted that some creative liberties were taken, such as casting choices and the house's appearance, while preserving the book's most distinctive elements. The production created multiple prop headboards with bite marks for the scene, which Hartnett observed during filming. Johnson, an executive producer, mentioned that extended sleepwalking sequences were trimmed because they proved less visually compelling on screen.
