Robinhood Expands Toronto Headquarters to 60K SF

Robinhood has opened a 60,000-square-foot office at 25 York St. in downtown Toronto, designed to accommodate nearly 400 employees, up from its current 200. The company leased the space as part of its Canadian expansion, including the acquisition of WonderFi and the launch of its Canada platform. The move follows other tech firms like Lyft expanding their downtown Toronto footprints.
The new office at 25 York St. marks a significant scaling of Robinhood’s Canadian presence, following a June 2024 opening of a smaller space with over 50 staff. The 30-storey, 786,000-square-foot tower is a joint venture between Menkes and the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, with direct PATH access to Union Station.
Robinhood’s growth in Toronto parallels its broader Canadian market strategy, which included the acquisition of WonderFi and the July launch of its domestic trading platform. The company joins a recent wave of tech expansion in the area, with Lyft opening a 90,000-square-foot hub at First Canadian Place last week.
This expansion could signal renewed confidence in downtown office markets, particularly among technology firms. The move may create hundreds of high-skilled jobs in Toronto, potentially boosting the local economy and reinforcing the city’s status as a tech hub. However, it also reflects a competitive talent market, which could pressure smaller employers and affect housing demand in the region.
